Hey folks,

I have had Forza 2 since release but didn't get much time to play it when it first came out, so It got pushed to the back of the cupboard. However I have just ordered myself an MS wheel so In ready to give it another go.

I was just wondering if anyone has any good tips regarding upgrades/tuning. My normal strategy is to upgrade the engine/brakes first, however that normally ends up with a car the beats everything into the first corner but handles like a shopping trolley.

Any tips appreciated. smile

Hi mate,
I used to play a lot and have just back into it.

I'm keen to keep my racing/gaming 'authentic' so when I recently started playing again (from scratch with a new xbox) I began by turning all the assists off except for the racing line which I'm using to learn the tracks again. It makes is way tougher but I was finding that I was able to thrash the competition quite early on as soon as I'd upgraded the car. It also makes you drive better of course.

I'm no expert when it comes to upgrades but I generally go for Brakes, Tires, anti roll bars and then move on to exhausts, induction and other upgrades.

Practice, practice, practice.....

TBH I wouldn't turn everything off, definitely the TCS and STM and try manual gears as they will make you faster overall. ABS is a must for me as I can't get on without it as there so little brake feel.

As curry says Pratice, Practice, and some more Practice.

Tuning cars is a bit of a black art. I am hopeless at doing it.
I would get over to the official Forza forums as there is some good free tunes on there plus lots of tuning guides.

For me I keep on ABS as the majority of race cars have this safety feature. There is no feel and it locks up much to easily. I always did the same as you, bolt on all the handling stuff and then get it up to the max in that class, but now have realised there are speed tuning & handling tuning.

part of the practice is get involved in some of the nightly PH races There is nearly always people online.

Abs on again for me, the rest off.

If you are on XBL look at the many forum topics from us PH racers, we will always help out, have occasional giveaways, and you can get into some good close (and friendly!) racing, and alot of the time we use stock cars so its not down to 'super' tunes.

Just get online!! Practice against the computer will be nothing compared to real drivers. You will get upto speed far far quicker by racing online.

Bang on!
You progress so much quicker by racing online than you do against the AI.
A few weeks racing with the PH guys and you'll be a new racer! biggrin

Oh and O/T, haven't seen you online for a while Tim! smile

Yup i know that feeling, also missing out on the curry bashing. I hope that still happens...

Mister V - As for tips i would say get yourself online and practice with the PH crew. Some of these guys are mega fast and by just following them you will improve. When i first started to play online i was awful and constantly 5-6 seconds a lap slower, but with time and practice i slowly started to improve. However receently having been away from any racing for about a month i will probably be crap again.

Right I think it's time I joined you lot for a game.

my gamertag is sgkillfest (I know it's a bit stupid its from my call of duty days.)

I warn you now I'm not very good so I apologise for any poor driving in advance.

Oh and if I appear quite it's because my xbox mic is a bit battered!

You need to get the mic sorted quickly. The best thing about playing with the PH lot is the banter.

For the Career, find the quickest way to get a U999 Exige - I used it for most of the races!

lol Mattt, what about the 4wd, fwd, jap, US etc races??
The fact you think U999 is the best shows your inexperience.

Everyone know the F50GT (complete with free tune) is the best U class. That is why everyone has one and no genuine racers race U class unless they are just mucking about lol

Very very true... wouldn't be the same without the banter in every game.

Well, obviously aside from them. I must apologise then, I can't be a genuine racer in your little online world.

For christ sake Jackal, we are trying to encourage a couple of new guys to come and race with us and each and every time that happens you beat them down.

You wonder why you aint asked to race that often....
