aston martin DB9?

thinking about a change, probably not this year but almost certainly at the beginning of next year.
have been waatching the DB9 prices with interest over the last year or so and quite frankly the price has fallen out of them.
i am starting to see 2005 DB9s in the mid 40k bracket. i should think that mabe within a year the prices might be in the thirties which for me would mean a viable option to sell the noble and try one out.
what do you "informed" guys think, i have never driven one or really been that near to one, its just one particular car i have allways fancied. obviously i know it wont be the same handling experience as the noble but any general opinions about the beast would be appreciated

Have looked and tested. They are very different to the Noble. Much more a refined GT car. Relability on early DB9's is not as good as the later cars and parts prices are high!
Prices will fall further until supply starts to outstrip demand, but some are already arguing this is already the case with this model.

think there is a bit more to drop and to be honest 40k and over ist a bit out of my range, if it comes to a case of selling the noble and puting a few grand extra down, i think i maight be tempted.Prices will fall further until supply starts to outstrip demand, but some are already arguing this is already the case with this model.

reckon spring is a good time to sell the noble, so maybe early next year if prices continue to fall. my last car was a R34 GTR so guite familiar with the GT type of car

bearing in mind my background is from evos and a R34 GTR, i dont want to revisit any of these brands so the new GTR is out,,,dont like porsche full stop but am willing to listen to others "interesting" options. need minimum 2 + 2 though
the aston bearing big and heavy i can understand..cant really say ist is slow though? i would not be trying to compare it to the noble on handling or lap times

What sort of fuel consumption Richard? I'm toying with my first diesel but, due to the increased price - over petrol) when you do the math a lot of petrol engines come out more economical.

am in germany so really really dont want a merc as one sees them everyday
am amazed at the bently prices though, that is a lot of car for the money especially if they drop into the 30s, they are huge though, think i prefer the aston
I've spent quite a lot of time in the DB9 and DBS courtesy of my membership to ecurie25.
The DB9 is a lovely car, but really really is a lolopy GT car. For UK B roads it also has an issue that 2nd is too short and 3rd too long for making good progress and hence you are constantly shifting up and down between the two gears to make any sort of progress.
Also, once you start to look closely at the interior you can see that the accountants got there. Small things like the ash-tray lid not being damped, the exceptionally cheap plastic cover on the watch and the cheap and flimsy glove box lid somewhat spoils the whole things after you live with it for a while.
The handling is more akin to my X5 than the Noble, so you are going to get a shock, but the engine pulls hard and strong and makes the car feel somewhat 'lighter' than the raw numbers suggest.
Finally the DBS is just in a different league, although I don't think that will be in your price bracket for quite some time despite losing around £100 per day at the moment just standing still.....

I concur with Joust here, I drove the DB9 and V8 Vantage back to back and the DB9 was like a rowing boat in a storm compared to the Vantage.
I thought both were lacking in the GO department though.
And both had some sad let downs interior wise.

This is very interesting. Totally agree about the Astons in the go dept, ( especially the 4.3 Vantage). The CLS is a wonderful wonderful car, we had one as the family car for 18 months before the wife got involved in school runs. we drove the CDI first and simply didn't bother with petrols after that. As BigGriff said, very very spec and colour sensitive though.
