Anyone got/tried one of these recently?

Look like a good bet as an XC trail centre bike.

Looks the same as my Meta 4, if it is, then it's a brilliant bike. Very very fast on the trails, you won't regret it.

Pop over to www.commencalownersclub.com Think there's a few owners on there.

Never ridden a Super4. Meta4 is superb and the Super4 is a lightened more XC biased version.

The super 4 is great, much improved over the Meta 4.

The Meta 4 was great, but weighed in at almost the same as a 5, so you may aswell have had the extra travel.

The super uses a subtley different suspension setup at the back, and the frame is a fair chunk (like, 2lbs i think) lighter - that makes a difference. Adn the specs on them are great. I really like them, more so than its obvious rival the Orange ST4.

I've only been able to have a short ride on one, but I like it. Short travel but not too racy geometry, means its a fast bike.

Get a sit on one and see what you think.

Had a look at a 4.2 demo earlier in Glyncorrwg. Sat on but no test. Impressed with the lack of bulk. I'll organise a demo ride this weekend. The Orange ST4 weighs the same as the Orange 5.

Specify a rear hub that is a bolt-through design. On my Meta 5.5 the rear swingarm flexes slightly, leading to the occasional bit of brake rub.

I've heard they flex a bit. Thanks.

Interesting replies. I'm considering a Super 4.2 as they look a steal at 1299 quid atm. Having said that I looked at a Lapierre x-control 210 today and was sorely tempted. Not ridden either as yet; anyone ridden the x-control?

just ordered a 4.2 from merlin... i'll let you know what its like!... as the azesty was beyond my budget, I had a look at the xcontrol but didnt like that rubber bumper as a shock damper and it just didnt look or feel that good. i had heard bad things about the lp air shock too.

i think the 4.2 at that price is good value, there is no way I would have paid £1899 for one but £1299 seems ok.
