ConcreteBuffalo will probably back me up on this, but we used stock Monaros on Maple Valley last night and probably got one of the best 2 corner drifts for a while. A Monaro with some more power, better suspension and possibly a little weight loss to help ease the back end out should work wonders. I was thinking of a monaro, Or is it best to have a 4WD?

My weapon of choice is the MKVI Supra RZ. Very VERY tail happy, but im finding that learning to drift and control that at higher speeds is making other cars a hell of alot more managable.
Other favourites include S14, S15, and 350Z.
Im sure an AM would work with the right tweaking, but probably not as well as something with the weight balance like the Monaro or a Corvette as HomeJ suggested.
Gen3 RX7s seem to work pretty well too, but then i do prefer my jap drift cars, they just seem better adapted from stock. Anything is worth a go, just don't go as far as changing the drivetrain to 4WD, as its just not cricket.

Its a computer game not the D1! do what you like.
If you just want to go sideways and have fun then send me a FR and i'll gift you a copy of the fisher price R34(my first drift car).
Easy to drift and fun.. then you can use that a stepping stone to RWD action IMO..

I actually like 4WD. I set the torque to 15/85 F/R as it helps to pull the car out of a silly drift angle when you'd probaly spin with RWD. It just makes things more controlable.
That is very true, its definitely a hell of alot more recoverable compared to RWD, especially higher-powered RWD. I've done the total opposite and started straight away with high torque RWD and have been improving each time, but i like to set myself a challenge!I definifely agree with the Monaro idea though, even the stock models we were using last night were drifting pretty well towards the end and with more power, they could be seriously good drift cars...
Oh and JH, yeah those RX7s are really nice to drift as well, the only thing that i find a little frustrating is the amount of handbrake needed to initiate the drifts sometimes, as i get more used to my Supra having so much torque it pulls straight into the drift with a quick press of the throttle..

Hehe nice, i do like those RX7s, just really started getting into my Supra and had a bit of a practise with my tuned 350Z last night as well. Will have to have another drift soon mate, and see how this INGS performs!My weapons of choice - Tourino, S14, Rx7. Have to say the Tourino and S14 are very good at changing direction mid corner, so i barely ever spin in them. The Rx is a monster, have to handbrake into the corner and occasional handbrake halfway through as it starts scrabbling for grip/
