A few bits and pieces are happening at the moment which, with a bit of luck, will mean I might finally have space for a proper full size Snooker table. This is something I've wanted ever since I was a wee nipper and, whilst I'm a fairly mediocre snooker player, I have quite a passion for it.

So, the hunt is on for a decent table and all the necessary ancillaries. I'm very tempted to go the whole hog and buy a Riley Aristocrat with Steel Block Cushions and Strachan cloth. I know such a beast, if properly maintained, will last the duration. However I'm also open to suggestions of alternatives and, given the fact that a decent Aristocrat is around £10k, I'll happily take any advice on the matter onboard.

Does anyone here have a full size Snooker table? What have you chosen, where did you get it, and why did you go for the one you have? Any regrets?

All suggestions welcome.

Cheers,

EYW

Nah, use the space for two pool tables, put a bar in the corner and get your mates round. (or the PH masses)

Much more fun.

You could even call it 'The Pie and Piston'.

then later you could divide the room into 10 smaller ones, put a single mate in each one and claim it'll make things go altogether much more smoothly hehe

OK, For starters you should look at an antique one. In theory, you won't loose much on it if you decided to move and sell. You would have a really lovely table. All tables will need professionally set up, and this I would hope would be part of the deal. ( If not, pm me and I will find the name of the Riley chap who does it on the side )
The antique table will have new baize, and would be a flat as a new one, well set up.
From memory, you would get a great table for half your £10k and you can spend the rest on a nice score board, stools / chairs and a cue stand.

1) How very 2007 that comment was.

2) How would I know how big your house was? wink

3) If you saw how big my place was now, you'd realise how liberating and refreshing it would be to have some room to do something crazy with.

Thanks for the comments so far, all. With regards to the antique table, it's certainly something I'd consider.

And then keep randomly moving the mates to different rooms.
