mgb brakes stuck HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!
Discussion
I have just finished upgrading my 76 mgb brakes, ive changed the discs for groved and drilled, green pads and s/s braided hoses, rebuilt the rear brake drums and changed the brake pipes all round. after filling up the system with new fluid i noticed that the brake pedal does not return back up. ive bleed the system over and over and it still does not return on its own.ive changed the return spring on the pedal and still wont come up. have i done something wrong or is this leading to either the brake master cylinder or the servo,if some one can help i would be very grateful
You have almost certainly pushed the piston past the normal operating stroke during bleeding. On old master cylinders, the unused part of the bore can develop surface rust with age (especially with irregular/minimal fluid changes during it's life). This usually damages the seals at best, but can also cause the piston to get stuck.
You might get it to return with gentle percussive assistance on the MC body, but the seals will probably be well past their best so if this is the problem a new/recon MC would be a wise investment.
