Hi,

I've resently replaced the speedo sensor on the Griff and the car ran great without any problems for a number of weeks until I cleaned the Stepper Motor and put in a lower temp fan switch and thermastate. The car now stalls when ever I slow down and even on the odd occation that I manage to stop it from stalling the idle is around 500 revs and hunts for a bit and slowly get back to around 800 to 900 revs which is still under the normal 1000 revs idle. When the car initially starts it idles at around 600 revs hunts itself to around 1K.

The car was recently serviced and I've reset the ECU a number of times and checked all the connections was ok. Any Ideas?

Have you checked your base idle screw is set up correctly.

Mine occasionally did/does the same thing. I usually re-remove the stepper, add some PTFE tape to the threads and refit, making sure its 'well seated'. I always suspected that air was leaking into the inlet. Seemed to cure it on the occasions it happened to me.

loose inlet manifold bolts or duff gasket?(valley gasket)

mine made a horrible squeeling noise towards the end, lasted to 37k.

I think I will make sure the Stepper is air tight this weekend and have a look at the gasket as well. Will let you know about the result.

Thanks everyone.

just the gasket needed to be changed and also the 2 rubber seals on each end.
