Hi,

Are there any Kit Car builders in the Littlehampton/Rustington area? I'm looking into the idea of renting an industrial unit to build my car and was wondering whether there are any locals who would be interested in doing something?

Cheers,

John

Hi John.
I just thought I would say hello!
I live in Littlehampton, and am interested in kit cars. I am currently looking for ways to fund a sylva spectre build, but I tjhink that realistically I am looking at the beginning of next year for a start date!
My friend has just finished his mojo, though he is not local.
I just thought I would say hello to a fellow enthusiast.
Best of luck James.

Hi James,

Good to hear from you. I'm building a Porsche 550 replica starting in about July time. I don't know about you but I only have a single garage and was looking for somewhere local that is a little bigger where I can build it. My first thought was to try and rent a industrial unit, perhaps sharing the costs with other builders, but i realise, finding 4 other builders in the local area is a big ask! Where will you build yours?

Kind regards,

John

Hi John.
I moved from a house with a garage in Rustington,to a house in Littlehampton without a garage.
So It looks like I will be building a covered area at the end of my garden!!
I dont yet know how to convince the missus that we need a covered area at that end yet,but I am sure I will think of something!
There is a 4'3" wide alley way running from the garden to the main road,so I am planning on building a rotating gimble on wheels to roll the car out on its side(,possibly with a foldable rollbar,if the IVA allows?) for the summer, and roll it back in again for the winter!
Well that's the plan for now, anyway.
I know it is a little convoluted, but I think having the car at the end of the garden to tinker with will be a huge advantage, rather than having to travel to get to it.
I will keep an eye out to see if you find any others locally.
Good luck.
Cheers for now,James.

James,

That's an inspired idea - and there's me thinking i'm unfortunate to have to put up with a single garage. I must admit that I agree with you about not having to travel to get some work done. I think i'm going to put up with the garage!

Hello John,

I'm looking for a kit car builder to finish my project and I found this old post of yours.

I hope your project got completed by now and you are happy with it.

Are you able to recommend a builder for my project?

My vehicle is in Chichester.

Kind regards,

Ken

If I were you, I would have a chat with these guys:

http://www.southwaysautomotive.co.uk

One of the proprietors, Steve_D is a regular poster in this section.

I haven't used them myself, but may in the future - I did discuss some work with them but went with another company who were closer to home.

Thank you. I actually spoke to them today. They are going to look at my details and get back to me with a price and let me know if they can fit me in. I also emailed southern kit cars and Sussex kit cars but I haven't heard back as yet.

Thanks again :-)

err Ken, mark here form skcc - i did reply, infact you and i exchanged mails, i suggested that Southways were worth a shout as they're local to you, and also suggested Snodhurst up in the Kent area as they also have a lot of experience with 1 off's/kits...

Hi Ken
Very pretty car.
In your mail you didn't say whose kit it is, do you know?

Do you know which Porsche the ring gear comes from? If it has broken teeth then there is little chance of repairing it but I think it will simply bolt on rather than being heated and shrunk into place so should be easy to change. I'm suspecting from your comment about the starter and reposition the ring that the starter is not seeing full engagement but there are plenty of options to resolve this. I had similar issues with my Ultima ring gear.

I look forward to seeing it in our workshop.

Should I just pop down for my commission then, Steve?
