Calais to Bordeaux Hotel,

Hi All,

Can anyone suggest a hotel somewhere on the road between Calais and Bordeaux? Ferry arrives in Calais about 3pm local time so say 3-4 hours away means in the vicinity of Rouen I guess.

Its for the myself wife and 13yo daughter, so nothing flash needed, but a good restaurant near by would be appreciated!

We've stayed here before:

Camponile in South Rouen which is approx here

Always full of Brits/Belgians/Dutch - nothing fancy, but very reasonable price. There's a Buffalo Grill across the road

If it's anything like the Buffalo Grill in Charleroi, Belgium, then I have to say it will be the worst restaurant you have ever encountered.
Think of all the terrible things you've seen on Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, then multiply them all together. Add in terrible, fat, bored and smelly staff, extortionate prices, and a complete inability to cook ANYTHING properly and you're about halfway there.

The only thing that was worse was the town of Charleroi itself.

I did mention the Buffalo Grill tongue-in-cheek. However, the only one I've ever tried, in La Fleche (Sarthe) was a similar experience to TGIs, and wasn't as poor as the one you clearly suffered!

I'm afraid, to answer the OP's question, I don't know of one in the area - when staying there we've normally had dinner en-route.

Don't overestimate the travel time. Calais to Rouen is only a couple of hours. I reckon you can make Le Mans in 4.
