Hey chaps,

I've had a good search for previous threads but nothing very informative showed up.

Thinking of trying a Gallardo next biggrin

I could afford a 2004 or 2005 now, but am hearing that the MY06 car is far better in many respects and well worth saving up for.

Can you nice folks with experience of driving them please explain the differences with the gearing and other improvements.

Is it possible to get the gearbox on an 04 car upgraded to the 06 ratios?

Unfortunately its not as simple as going to a high street dealer and test driving them both! frown

Cheers
Greg

PS. Its manual all the way for me. driving

Edited for speed spelling mistakes!

Finally sold the noble then greg ! I moved to an 07 gallardo spider with e-gear not long after selling my M400 and haven"t looked back. Dont think its as easy to change gear ratios on one of these cars as it might be on a noble but hey ho, who am I to judge.
Not to sure on differences between 04/05 and later models as I was only looking for the 07 model before I bought.
Have you driven one yet ?
The e-gear takes some getting used to but once you adjust to it, it is a joy to drive.

To me this is geuinely fascinating...

The Noble always seemed to me as 'where to go next' if I ever wanted to move on from the Esprit. They seem to be made out of much the same ethic - if a little more spartan - but essentially a real "drivers car" (as opposed to a pedestrian's car? lol tongue out ) Lightweight, madcap British "against the odds" engineering, fast as flock, lightweight, incredible handling etc etc etc I've always had a real soft spot for the Noble.

I would have instinctively thought that driving a playstation gearbox would be a horrible experience / boring / odd etc etc etc to someone who is into cars like a nobbler or Lotus and their level of 'engagement'...

I don't imagine it's very easy to get the gear ratios changed over and would no doubt cost quite a bit, the gear ratios will also not be the only difference. I think this comes down to how long you think it will take you to save up enough to get a MY06. If the answer is over a few months, I suspect you may have problems waiting to get into a G knowing you could afford a MY04/05 now hehe

my06 cars are far better. The enigne is a little bit more powerful. The e gear was revised. The gear ratio's are better. Suspension is better. Exhaust has the butterfly valves on. Definatly save up for a my06 car ir newer. Worth every penny.

You will regret it after a year of owning a 04/05 gallardo. Prices will fall as more people upgrade to the LP560-4. If you can get the spyder.

Hi Tony! Nice to hear from you.

I sold the Noble about a year ago and went racing as it was the only thing I could think of after the excitement of a Noble with 450 ponies!

Since having an S1 elise with 160bhp for the year, I've kind of forgotten what that sheer pace feels like so am now happy to try other stuff as well as race the elise, which I do drive on the road a bit.

Was thinking of a V8 Vantage, R8 or Gallardo, but as said, I'm told that its well worth saving up for longer to get the 2006 car. I guess they will always be worth more than the older cars, and as a poster above states, there should be more and more coming up as the LP560s arrive.

I guess I need to drive one, but have no idea how to arrange that.

This is my current mode of transportation smile

Hunt around on auto trader/ pistonheads and ring up the dealers and look at there websites.

Its best to go along and have a chat with the sale managers but seem interested as they get lots of people wanting to just drive them. So seem like you are generally interested in bying a gallardo as they will bite your arm off in this current climate
