I have been to three campsites over 5 years and rate them completely differently. Beausejour we think is by far the worse, too far away from anything and a bit yobby. Karting Nord is ok if you get the right position not too close to the Kebab bar !! and Technoparc easily our favorite, like a private campsite surrounded by trees and the furthest away from the actual circuit = less noise. Only drawback is the walk to the village is a tad too long. Can never get into the Houx and some other friends always go to the Maison Blanch so which is best ? Theres only one way to find out !!........what do you think ?? im ready to book next year already !!
Houx is definitely convenient, and for a long time had the advantage of being one of the few (the only ??) sites with marked out and numbered plots, which makes things slightly less painful if you arrive late (provided you don't camp next to idiots who claim to have been told to pitch their tents on one of our plots by one of the site marshalls....).Edited by 5upra on Wednesday 29th April 09:37
But it's busy and there's a constant flow of people and cars in and out. Generally not too rowdy though. Ish.... Facilities are generally adequate, provided you pick which shower block to use and the right time of day.
Maison Blanche always seems to have had a loyal following too.
I camped at Houx from 2001-2003 , convenient and pleasant with the tree cover.
Bleu Sud overflow in 2004 was good with plenty of space.
Twice in MB (05 & 07) , this was probably the best as we were camped about 30M from the track, so very , very convenient. So this would be my favourite.
I've been in Bleu Nord twice and again this year.
Not too far from the track and marked so you can arrive late.
But its MB that gets my vote.

Has to be Maison Blanche, decent Toilets/Showers, Nice and secure as its within the track walls so keeps most the yobs out, close the the Village and as you mentioned it has a loyal following. Camped over the road last year at Bleu Nord as missed out on tickets for Maison Blanche this was OK but not a patch on maison Blanche.
Having spent about 9 years in Houx this is our favourite site as it benefits from numbered pitches and electrical hook-up, (if you a very long extension lead), generally peaceful if you have the right neigbours... and facilities OK as well...
Having been in Houx Annexe once, this is definitely at the bottom of our list, as we stuggled to find a place and it is generally far too boisterous for our liking.
1st time last year in Blue Nord, and pleasantly surprised... if there were more showers and electrical hook-up, this would probably be top of our list as access to the circuit is good...

I always enjoyed the Annex but I think it's mostly gone now due to a stadium under construction. Moved on to Karting Nord, great being trackside and close to the kart circuit but competition for space became fierce a couple of years back with 'tent-villages' for coach parties and caravan compounds for the marshalls. Not brilliant in the heavy rain of 06 either.
Tertre Rouge therefore has my vote. Within the circuit, chance to overlook the Esses if you arrive early enough, good security, convenient for Stella Bar and the tram for the Friday, good mix of genuine fans and potential for power hook-up. Only downside is that leaving the campsite in the car for any top-up supplies is almost impossible on Saturday and Sunday as the access road is within the circuit and as such is shared by spectators on foot.

Tried almost all of the older campsites but stuck with Tertre rouge for the last 6 years as it suits our group, close to everything, well drained and good security, it is the most expensive campsite but that says it all, rarely ever see tickets advertised campsite always full of the same hard core regulars.
Haven't been able to get Houx tickets and have been going Blue Nord for the past 4 years with one trip to beausejour because we didn't reserve any tickets. Since I'm a Dutchie, not sure if Houxe is the best place... Blue is pretty quiet and as close to the straight as you can get. Facilities have been decent.

I asked about access on a previous thread as we're trying TR for the first time. I was told that the entrance is the end by the Stella Bar near the bridge. So is this closed on Sat/Sun then?Team Langoustine camp site...near the track, clean toilets, no queue for hot showers, beer on tap in the bar, great bunch of sensible yet mad guys...even girls camp there!!!
Cost more than some, but you get what you pay for.........

There are two campsites now commonly referred to as Tertre Rouge. The original one (where I am) is located on the outside of the track and relies on a long access route running alongside the track where spectators will mingle. Entrance is just after you pass under the bridge of the dual carriageway. There is also camping now on the inside of the Tertre Rouge bend which takes access just after the Stella Bar. This road is usually clear during the race itself but beware there is a tidal flow arrangement on Sat morning and Sun afternon. If the picture has uploaded correctly you should see both camping areas and their access points. If you are in Tertre Rouge (Outer) feel free to come and find me for a beer.

By the way the big white shape on the right is the Team Langoustine site....... How close to the action is that.

Dont forget The TL site now has the 'world famous' watering hole; The Chocolate Starfish!
Also warm showers (and plenty to go around)
Clean toilets (see above)
Big screen TV with SKY, seperate sound system and most importantly...a great atmosphere with like minded petrol heads!!
p.s and as you can see from the maps, its ideally located for Tetre Rouge and the Mulsanne straight.....
