Hi all,

I am posting under an alias so someone close doesn't get wind of what is afoot.

Does anyone know of a place that does hot air balloon rides in Scotland (Grampian if possible, but not essential)? I have googled it but the info is quite sketchy.

If anyone has done this before and has an idea of price, was it worth it, when to do it etc please lt me know!

Cheers!

I've seen a Virgin balloon several times in Aberdeenshire.

Quick google gives this:

Yea the one above is the one my aunt went with and she claimed it was magical. It floats oot of Castle Fraser.

I had one booked before, as a surprise for me, but was cancelled due to the weather. Never did get round to it.

I did one of those Virgin flights from near to Beeston Castle in Cheshire.

It was brilliant except that the flight time was cut down due to weather conditions etc etc.

Great fun up there and the views are fantastic.

Hi,
I did one with Alba, should be able to find the details on the net, though they are more central.
However, although mine was booked as a surprise it is a bit hit and miss as to if and when it eventualy flies, mine took about 10months ! Some people are lucky and get first time, some have had cancellations due to weather and have taken over a year.
It is a great experience none the less. Recommended.

ah wondered where it takes off from...
had one of those spooky mornings last year, was a blue sky morning, i will go out on the MTB at lunctime, busy putting the bike on the roof, nobody around, no cars, no people but aware of something about. spooky, nope definately something not right then chhhhhhhhhhhhhhht, what the f**k, looked up and the balloon was a few hundred feet up.

No matter how often i see it its still an elegant way to travel. Was around for about a month last year about this time of year actually. Anyone done it? You just cant help but pull over and look at it, something majestic about these things.

You'll enjoy it, and the strange thing about it, if anyone has a fear of hights it doesn't seem to kick in in a balloon, weird !!

Said balloon flew over our place twice last year at dusk....This is the best time to see it, with the burners on.

Seen it a couple of weeks ago while heading to work too (drive past castle fraser)!
But the guy that runs it i think was in trouble last year as his refund policy or lack of it caused alot of complaints...not sure of the exact story but if it gets cancelled once, you get to book another date but if he cancels it twice you don't get another date and you don't get your money back.....and think he was cancelling it with no explanations just for the money!
Think it's all changed now though and never heard any more problems and that so should all be fine smile

Will be an awesome experience!!
