OK, so I'm doing a lot of work on the brakes/suspension on my Wedge. I've got the 'A' frames off at the moment and, while being in really good condition for age, there is some rust and scuffed paint (me removing bushes etc). What's the best way to remove Waxoyl so I can repaint them before re-Waxoyling them?

Other option is get them acid dipped, zinc coated and re-powder coated, cost about £100 though.

Would have thought that "Gunk" engine degreaser or similar is what you need, once you've got rid of the Waxoyl rub down, apply Kurust to neutralise any remaining rust particles, then etch primer to provide a good base, repaint and re-waxoyl - job done.

I found petrol seems to be quite good at shifting waxoil type substances, on a positive note my overalls will never rust tongue out

(Note usual safety warning's apply, don't smoke or wear old nylon shirts while working or blame me etc etc...)
