Discussion
107 is the internal model designation used by Mercedes-Benz for all SLs (and SL Cs) manufactured between 1971 and 1989. R107 is the SL, C107 (sometimes W107) is the SL C.
The previous model, the Pagoda, is the w113. The following model is the R129. The current model is the r230. The Gullwing is the w198.
Other common ones are w201, which is the 190 of 1982 to 1991, w123 which is the mid-size saloon of 1976 to 1985, w124 which is its successor the first E-Class, w126 which is the S-Class saloon and coupe of 1979 (coupe 1982) to 1992, w210 which is the first four-eyed E-Class, w140 which is the big S-Class of 1991 to 1998.
