Morning Griffith Guru's

How easy is it to remove the heater pump thing in the footwell ? Is there a lot of water involved ?

And do you need it if you dont want warm air in car ?

Heater pump?????

You can just by pass the heater matrix, which in effect is what you are suggesting.

You may be surprised how much a little bit of heat actually helps in the car, do you use it all year round?

Also, warm air is needed if your screen starts to mist up at all.

Had cause to remove the complete heater box today from a griff with an issue, once the main dash is out it isnt too difficult.

Anthony,

Thanks for reply, by heater pump i meant the large metal contraption in top left of passenger foot well.

I am planning on using car all year round, at moment it is summer use only, although it does get nice and warm in the cabin. Its cooling I have a problem with, so any ideas on that are more than welcome.

You say main dash removed makes things easier, why is that as it looks like it is just a case of disconnecting the pipes.

It may come out with out removing the main dash, but I wouldnt say so, and I speak from experience.

If you have problems with too much heat, you need to make sure your heater valve is shutting off properly.

Mine was excessively hot when I got it, now I can get it to blow cool air even if she's been up near 100 in stationary traffic biggrin

Wargriff, not sure from your orig post what it is you are looking to do but if you have access to TVRCC site this link concerning the heater valve and getting cool air through may be relevant to your issue. Also has useful pics.

If you mean you have a problem cooling the engine, then having the heater matrix in the car will help the situation.
In effect, its another radiator that you can blow cold air over and lose some heat from the coolant.
If I set my radiator to cold - no flow through heater matrix - my engine temp rises by 5 degrees

Thank you all for help, im looking to remove it to allow easy access to the fuse box and that area for the electrician who is sorting my indicator issue.

While its out I will have a look to see why im getting only hot air.
