Usual stuff plus new plugs from what I can see.

Monkfish charge just under £300.

problem with monkfish is the 350 mile or so drive each way for him which between fuel and probably an overnight stay will damn near double the cost of the service, fine if you can do some other work at same time to offset the costs against. If there's nothing particularly awkward to do with the 50k service then I'd get the parts together and take them into a local garage you know and trust and have them do the service. Its what I do with my local Vauxhall dealer, have a good relationship with service desk and they only let 1 guy work on my car so they make sure he's available on the days I book the car in. I then pay them for a couple of hours labour. Means I get to choose the oil, filters, etc that are used and they get to do the messy stuff

edit: Bigwheel is down there or has just been down there from Glasgow for his service but he was also getting a few mods done at the same time, its the only way it makes any real sense travelling that distance.

yeah that makes sense , wells, is there a dealership up our end that does monaro parts? oil filter, plugs etc?
im going to do the gearbox and diff aswell, ive got access to a pit and ramp and capable of doing all the work myself, just wanted the 'stamp' in the book.
think the only thing different is the plugs get changed? correct me if im wrong?
can get hold of the plugs for nothing (ac delco ones)
does anybody know why monkfish use 10w/30? can understand going thicker on the operating temp, but not the cold viscosity???
ive been using fuchs 5/30 supersyn.
cheers kyle

I believe you can buy the complete service kits from Monkfish or Rapid GB so at least you would know you've got everything you need to do the job as they would.

I'm sure I saw them on one of their websites.

Indeed. We can supply a service kit to suit whatever service you are due. With or without oil.

Haven't really have the time to read all the threads today but on this one i just wanted to say that when it comes to servicing the Monaro Col and i both agree there is nowhere else our car will ever go but Monkfish for Service. The quality of the products used, thoroughness and time taken was second to non. Really excellent clap

All my services up to and including the last one at 40K with MOT have been around £200. Drive appear to be making some effort to be competitive. Prices go to pot when specific parts like brake parts are needed.

quite sure if we stayed as close to either Monkfish or Rapid as you do we'd be using them for servicing as well but when its a 5-6hr drive each way minimum with fuel and lets be realistic a hotel, food etc thats adding 200 quid+ onto any service plus time off work. I can source the parts and hand them and the car into a main dealer less than 1/2 mile from my front door and walk back to get my daily driver to head off to work. Sure if you were in position of having to drive up to Glasgow or Edinburgh to have the car serviced you'd be looking for alternatives as well. Just think how jealous we are of you being "on the doorstep" so to speak of the main workshops for dealing with our cars.
