Fibreglass Bonnet

Prices look good but bear in mind that freight will pretty much double the price and on top of that I'm not too sure how well fibre glass will travel.
alternatively try these guys

about the same price as the fibre glass but would solve weight and brittleness problem. Still going to cost you$600 to ship though.
I'm in the same position as you and, since roger has sold the last of his steel bonnets, wondered if it might be worth doing a forum bulk purchase of we can get enough takers?

the carbon fibre would look trick on my ute
sory for stupid question but can you tell me what is the difference between carbonfibre and fibreglass ? Maybe come photo ?carbon fibre is constructed of many layers of woven fibres (largely made up of carbon atoms in a tough crystalline configuration) bonded together to give both rigidity and flexibility depending on the number of layers. The crystalline lattice gives a similar strength to steel at a fraction of the weight. Its' the sort of stuff they build jet fighters and F1 cars from.
Fibreglass on the other hand is the stuff they build 1970's speed boats from. It's heavy and somewhat fragile as the corvette below may demonstrate.

Ok but this is Australia. There must be someone who is doing it in UK.
Now I know what is the difference between carbon and fibre. To do a fibre glass bonnet is easy ( that's what I think) What you have to do is take a shape from metal bonet. There is lots of cars with fibreglass like TVR or Lotus.
I ve red on forum that someone wanted to do a fibreglass bonet.

what's wrong with a metal one?
Absolutely nothing, and those that Monkfish had were a bargain, but sadly they've gone. That leaves us with VX and I'm not really happy to drive without an arm and a leg. I hope I'm wrong (and if I am I'm sure you'll tell me) but VX charge four figures for a replacement snort bonnet.I've had a fibreglass bonnet in the past. What a waste of money it was. I got it for my old Capri after a front end shunt damaged teh metal one beyond use. The think flexed and wobbled, I would not ever consider one for the Monaro.
Salvage yards or an order through Mark or Monkfish would be my only way to go, or source a GTO bonet
