does anyone have dB figures for idle & 3/4max rpm please? never had a meter when i had the stock kit on and curious to see if it's possible to meet a 100db @ 3/4max rpm limit at a 6.1mile Dorset circuit!:

Thanks Paul smile
Thought it'd be borderline! On further investigation the noise limit for this event isn't going to be (remotely) strictly enforced . . ! . !! . well not for vipers with any of the array of 'normal' exhaust modifications that i've witnessed e.g Borla, Roe, RT, etc anyway... although i think Ginj you find it hard to away with your set-up (likewise me with my current kit!...)

Its true, mine may indeed make a small amount of noise, I use the noise limits as an excuse to not thrash my lovely car for the day, instead I can use the time polish it a bit more!

When we were developing the ZB 27, the SAE noise passby levels were about 1 dBA under the limit in final development form. When the electronic noise cancellation exhaust system was canceled less than a year before 03 production started, we had plan B ready which relied on passive conventional attenuation and balanced the pulse waves between the left and right exhaust banks to get a nice snarl instead of the UPS truck exhaust note of the SR 27.

My 97 GTS with straight pipes does sound a bit UPS truck like when idling (especially when cold) but roars like nothing else when opened up.
