question about the Tuscan II

It's a minor detail thing but...
When it was first shown, the top set of headlamps were covered and the 2nd lower ones were exposed (like the Tuscan I)


But most of the ones you see in magazines etc have both sets of headlamps covered. So I just assumed that only the prototypes carried the exposed lower set of headlamps. But then again, I've seen a few in the classifieds here with the lower set exposed...

so whats the deal? They can't be different models? Did TVR just start selling them with exposed lower lamps and then quietly changed their minds?

Never saw one like this in the flesh; maybe it was just a prototype. As far as I know all mkII's have two covered headlights.

There is one for sale here http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/706349.htm Not a sad spotter just spent a lot of time on the clssifieds before I bought mine a few weeks ago. I just thought it was a fill between the Mk1 and the Mk2 as they are today, but could be wrong!

TVRinBFG might be able to tell us some of the history on this car...Must have been an early MK2, not that many with 3.6 engines either.

It's a 4B chassis, so made late 2004, first reg'd Apr 05. It's in Spectraflare Grey, supposedly the only TVR painted in this colour according to Gherbill. I'll quiz Heath Briggs and/or Ben Lang next time I'm at the Shed and see if they know how many cars were made like this. Does anybody know what colour the motorshow car above is?

The first convertible also did not have the lower light covers.

As seen at Pistonfest in July 2004.

That makes sense, since Ben Lang told me last week , that a Mk1 was modified to make the prototype convertible, probably the same with a MK2 targa prototype.

The MK2 Targa 'S' variant shown at the same time had both light covers in place



Think they just had a shortage of light covers!

Took a while, but TVR have confirmed today that my car is the 2004 Birmingham Motorshow Car, now on silver alloys, shown at the top of this thread.

Definitly 2 others mine and greame bishops are the same colour. dont think there are many tho

I ordered my vert just after they released the new vert dash. Did not want one with the little bike style pod. I was told by dealer the S was to has both lights covered and the standard car just the top ones. A few of the early MK2's also had 3.6 engine. I like most buyers (i would imagine) said not upgrading my 4.0 MK1 to a 3.6 Mk2 also i wanted both lights covered. I guess as sales where slipping by then, thats why this was done.

The front indicator spacers (alloy bits)are loads more visible (like a pair of erect nipples) on the above pictures than most late cars
