Pity its only a parade lap, I would love to see the Doctor race in the TT (in my dreams)
I wouldn't rule it out either. One of the things that draws me to Rossi as a racer is that he seems to genuinely love racing and I wouldn't be surprised if he gives it a go over the next few years.
I'm not sure if he has any contractual obligations not to (due to safety perhaps) at the mo or perhaps he's still just enjoying motogp.

I know what you mean. Hailwood, Ago, Hislop, and Foggy could cut it at both road and circuit racing. I can't imagine Dani or Lorenzo attempting a "fully lit" lap of the Mountain Course.Same and McGuiness and Jeffries etc were always mediocre short circuit riders but both "get" ("got") the TT!

I absolutely and truly hope for his sake he does not do that. He barely makes it round a lap in BSB, his record for putting in on the floor is the most unenviable of the lead team riders currently and you get much less of a chance at the TT as we all know.Perhaps the North West would be a better place to start with . . . Even that's asking a lot.

If you look at those that have done "both", the TT masters have never been great GP winners since perhaps the mid/late 70's.
And the GP riders have never cut it on the TT.
Take the late 70's. Sheene was scared of the island (don't argue the point either), but his lesser stablemate, Stavros Parrish was damn good round there. You have to be able to ride at 9.5-10ths compared to the sterile race circuit environment where you can push to the utter limits, and it's the rider with a cool head that is fast on the island.
Now, Rossi has had great success in GP's, but he's taken to four wheels, more notably rallying which requires the "TT" type mentality to flourish.
So, in short, would Valentino Rossi make a TT winner, and I say he would.
Perhaps his demonstration or parade lap will wet his appetite, and if contractual issues could be sorted, then I have a gut feeling that he'll come and have a proper go.

I think that Jefferies was a brilliant short circuit rider. He just never had the chance to get on a BSB to prove himself against the "cream of the crop."Very few if any modern top level short circuit riders would be able to do the TT with any level of sucess / safety.
