I've not been on track for a while, and the itch needs scratching pretty sharpish... anyone know of anything interesting soon?

Don't want sessioned, and there's nothing at Oulton for a while... what else is there round here?

Have you had a look here, gives a list of some of the trackdays at various curcuits. There is one in the middle of may at anglesey or one at the end of may at aintree. Not sure about other northwest venues, might have to do a bit of homework on that.

Or there is Anglesey on Monday with BaT.
I'll be the slow one having tuition at least that's my excuse!

Nice one! Didn't realise there was anything other than for the horsies at Aintree! I'll get down to one of those.

I'm out on the lash on Sunday unfortunately so won't be able to make that Anglesey one. Bummer.

That site's now bookmarked.

Aintree is sessioned and you need to return the form by post. Fills up quickly by all accounts though the booking form only went live on Tuesday.

The fastest trap speed at Aintree last week was 168mph by a Gould. Although a (slightly modified) Lotus Sunbeam did do 146mph through the speed trap too.

Ah, a fellow M-driving freelancer!

So what's Aintree like? Is it a 'proper' track or more of a coned-off airfield thing?

Take it this is the circuit...

It is a purpose built circuit, hosted f1 back in the 60`s. Yes that is the layout.

It's a proper circuit, probably not as much grip as the new track at Anglesey but much more than an airfield, plus it is not as abrasive as an airfield either - however, it doesn't have the normal tyre-walls or gravel you see at some of the other circuits.

Whatever you do, do not go onto the grass near the fences - hit the fence if you must, but if you leave tyre marks on the 'hallowed turf' then you'll probably wake up next to a horse's head in the morning. Alternatively, make sure you spin to the inside of the circuit wink

Seriously though, they are in danger of losing the right to run track days and sprints there as Aintree Racecourse don't want to run the risk of anyone damaging the Grand National turf (not that it looked anything special to me when I was standing on it).

Haha, no mate, I've been a busy freelancer for nearly 12 years now... never had a boss to answer to since I was 18.

Lot of lads are really struggling though, with most having to sign-on, and some only having done 2 weeks' work since Jan! Sorts a lot of the dead wood out though....

going to one at anglesey on the 17th, cant wait
done the sprint at aintree but found it quite a boring course compared to 3 sisters
you would find anglesey much more exciting, quickly gaining a reputation as one of the finest tracks in the country
