RPM

Hi All,

After what must be at least 15 years since I first heard a TVR (before it stormed into view), I finally grew a pair and bought one - a T350C. Took it for a spin for the first time last Saturday and I've not stopped grinning since.

Anyway, I was wondering, how high do people normally rev the engine when driving aggressively? Is it perfectly happy (after a propper warm up of course) going to 7000rpm or above? Does high RPM do anything bad to the engine? Does it mind driving along for a bit at high (say 4-5k) revs in 2nd or 3rd gear whilst waiting to storm past something? Or should I avoid this? (I should add, I'm a complete novice when it comes to performance cars, so lots to learn)

i don't know if it minds it or not, but my god it sounds good! - i end up doing this quite a bit, just for the noise factor!

yeah I often have to stop myself falling into my 5 series mindset and shifting down into 5th from 4th, when infact should be shifting up into 3rd where all the fun is

Oh and congrats on the car, you wont regret it they are excellent fun - where are your photos of it?

Most engines make their max power at around 6500 rpm, although you can take it up to 7000 rpm.
Above doesn't make any sense I think.

The car probably has a limiter on it .7500? Performance wise you probably wont gain anything by taking it above 6500,. Sitting between 4-5000rpm isn't going to do any harm.

Once fully warmed, its a crime against the S6 engine not to keep it singing away between 4-6 K/RPM!. I love to see the look of terror on peoples faces when I go gunning it past with my S6 on song!

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll adjust those flashy light things accordingly, at the moment they all seem to come on almost at once!
