Well as the title says finaly got to the bottom of a misfire at start up I have had steam injection!! two pin pricksized holes/cracks in the casting behind the inlet valves on two ports. The realy anoying thing is all 4 ports have been repaired by the factory welded up the head should have been scrapped then. There is not enough metal to repair it again I actualy put my finger through one of the cracks and turned it into a large hole !!! So has any one got a 5 litre head they wany rid of cheers Jason
You definitely want a matched pair. The RR used all sorts of different combustion chamber volumes etc throughout its life and you need to get exactly what TVR fitted to your car originally (or have the heads ever been replaced?). You ought to change the head gasket on the other head too so they match and the CRs are the same.
IME £750 for a pair is cheap (although still a lot of money). When I rang around breakers wanted £1500 a pair!!

Don't think TVR cc's changed much, I've only ever seen 1.2mm comp gaskets used even on the basic 4.0's so I assume all 28cc, certainly nothing else on the BV heads. I wouldn't like heads with different porting on each bank, even minor differences which is what I was referring to Ben (
