Hi,
I am about to take the plunge with a 2.5 X Type Estate. Are there any independent garages around the midlands, specifically around Leicester.

I did but more importantly moved to New Zealand! I had an XJ 3.2 Sport and they looked after it. Worth having a chat to them.

Depends where you are but Mark Meade, MDM Services at Thurmaston, has been trading for over 20 years and used to look after all my Jaguars before I moved to Le Mans. I'd recommend him without reservation.

MDM are now in Coalville. I used them when I had an XJ6 SIII. Never really associated them with modern Jags. Certainly never saw one in the workshop.

Isn't a SIII a modern Jag?

I have used John Skeggs on the Aston for a few things, and he is very good but difficult to get hold of.

I have heard good things about Sturgess, but they are the main dealer so charge accordingly

No. Its a 1960's design. XJ40 onwards are modern. It would be like saying a Land Rover SIII is a modern Land Rover. All IMHO of course.
