Those of you that have used POR-15 `metal ready`, did you rinse it off before going on with the POR-15? The metal ready instructions say keep it wet for 10-15 mins then rinse off when using it as a metal treatment (my chassis has been shot blasted)......Martin

Yes, you need to rinse the acid off and let it dry before applying POR15. It's great stuff BTW

Thanks for the reply, i phoned Frost`s to query the instructions about washing it off, the guy advised me to `ignore that bit`!
Just had a look at the POR website and their common Q&A section and it states it must be washed off or it will leave a powdery residue........Martin

Do you think it is neccesary to overcoat the POR with a top coat such as thier stirlimg silver? My car has a flip front but surely won`t get that much in the way of UV light on it. If it does need overcoating can i do it before the POR is completly hardend so avoiding having the rub it with wet and dry to provide a key?....Martin

Do not use Frosts, they don't know their arse from their elbows. There are other suppliers out there that give a better service.

I didn't top coat the parts I'd painted with black POR 15 as I wanted them black anyway, but did top coat the parts I'd painted grey to match the lighter chassis colour. As you suggest, I did this before the POR coat had completely hardened.

IMHO, if you are careful and ensure you don't miss any bare metal, the only reason a top coat is needed is for cosmetic reasons.
