I need to replace the shocks on my 3000's. I have narrowed it down to Spax I think. My retailer states they are ride height adjustable and I can lower the front of my car up to an inch using my stock springs. I use the car only on the road, many times on long trips. I've been told Koni's ride is very harsh and are diffacult to adjust(springs off)and I don't think AVO's are ride height adjustable. My original armstrong's are leaking so I must act soon, Thanks for all comments, Gary.
Spax - don't generally have a good name with TVR owners due to quality problems (leaking etc); Konis ride is firm but OK, adjustment is difficult; Armstrongs were great, if only Monroe hadn't bought them. Have you considered Ledas? Fully adjustable, smaller diameter springs, easy to fit, front and rear ARBs. Good Luck. Jonathan
I fitted a set of Ledas earlier this year. I've not used the car enough to set them up properly but they seem to do the job. You might need new shorter springs for them as the lowest height setting is higher than the Armstrong seat position.
I've had experience with Spax and Konis, the latter were better in my opinion.

I've just fitted a set of four GAZ shocks to the back my Tuscan, not tried them yet though. Adjustable seat and rate. Very helpful company (01268 724585) or www.gaz-shocks.com but you have to order them through a stockist. And (being a mean S%d) the best bit was they were only £60 inc. VAT each compared to about 94 for Koni or 72 for Spax.

In 12 years with a Taimar I tried all sorts of shocks, I reckon the best two are:-
Konis - brilliant for road use, but not adjustable on the car so less good for track/sprint/hillclimb use
Ledas - The Dogs Whotsits, absolutely great superb on the track and pretty good on the road.
I would also recommend getting the car cornerweighted (Adrian Venn at Exactly TVR will do this, made a real difference and handling became the same when going left and when going right!!!!)
When cornerweighted and with Ledas, my car would go through the Cramer Curves at Donnington at over 100mph (genuine), it felt perfectly composed and balanced (please remember I ran 15in rims with 205/55fr and 225/50rear, so I had a bit of extra grip over a standard car!!)
just my 2p

Thank's for all of the good input. I went to the Performance and Racing industry trade show this weekend at Indy. I went to speak with Brian GAZzard from GAZ. about dampers for my 3000s. He was very farmilar with the application and based on the information I got from him and his U.S. dealer I am going to order his dampers. Thank's again will keep you all posted, Gary.
