Excellent - even better if the floor was black (but with the pool of light)

Yup, really like the 2nd one especially! To put the cherry on the cake I think a small amount of background showing would help. As it is you've got a very graphic, product style to the shot (very hard to do in my experience!), yet the floor tiles look too normal. I think you either need to dodge in a bit of the background to make the shot more natural looking (which would be a bit of a shame), or replace the tiles with something else, possibly black and shiney as suggested. You could even go the whole hog and sit the bike in a shallow (black) dish full of water. That would rock! Of course, you could fake it all in PS, but I couldn't condone that...

Thanks, would you believe that it was shot inside a fire station engine house? Thats why i removed any trace of the background, and the floor is not tiled, the white lines are actually volley ball court markings!

I could have certainly played with the floor a bit more, perhaps as suggested black with a reflection cloned in, perhaps i'll do that in the future.

Cheers,

Matt.

pp included mostly cleaning up the background.

Lighting was from a 24"softbox, sb-28 1/4 power.

In the fuel tank shot I can see reflections of three (possibly four) square softboxes and another light...

I was light painting with the soft box.

On reflection (haha) I would have done seperate exposures for the tank and instruments to cut down on reflections.

Cool shots, great how the light works with the flip paint. Might have just picked out a bit more detail on the bike's nose in the bottom pic?

Have you seen Ken Brown's work using a similar technique?
