Things have moved on apace since we started the last thread. The town hall (mairie) want to make this special if they can and have asked me to post here. They are prepared to close off the centre of Mulsanne (a couple of hundred yards from the bar we were proposing to meet at) so people can put their cars on display. This will be a moving feast, not a static exhibition. and will last all day so you can come and go as you please. Now this is a proposal from the deputy mayor which we discussed today and depends on how you lot feel about it so your input is vital as to whether it goes ahead or dies a death. I look forward to hearing from you all.

Thanks for your effort on this, Lowdrag

This sounds like a good plan to me. I like the idea of it lasting all day, as people tend to have various agendas on the Friday (St Saturnin, Driver Parade, getting pissed etc). How many cars do they expect to be able to accomodate?

What with the parking at the bar, the roads closed off and the parking in front of the mairie I reckon about 50 at least, perhaps more since I haven't really studied it and the meeting was this morning. I can count up later.

I shall be at St. Saturnin all day with the D type until about 3.30pm when the parade leaves and then back to Mulsanne. Hope to meet many of you there if not later at Mulsanne. Oh, for those who are interested there is a brief event at St. Saturnin on the Saturday morning early when all the cars doing a "parade lap" (in other words holding back from the pace car and then going like a bat out of hell) meet before setting off for the circuit. Most of you will still be trying to work out which day of the week it is though and wondering what country you are in I expect. It starts at 8.30am for the members of Alcoholics Anonymous who are capable of driving.

Edit: getting there in the afternoon from St. Saturnin. I go towards Le Mans and then pick up the motorway at the Auchan roundabout direction Tours. I come off at Junction 24 Yvré l'Eveque and take the first exit at the roundabout outside the péage towards Le Mans to the next roundabout at Bois Martin and then left to Ruaudin and Mulsanne. The traffic going round Le Mans is a bloody nightmare at that time of day on the Friday. A bit longer but saves time and certainly overheating if you are in a classic car. Look it up.

Myself and my group will be participating at The Great British Welcome and then, as long as there is no beer throwing, then I suspect we will jolly on down to Mulsanne !

Great stuff, I had planed to go to the St Saturn meet AM, Then pit lane walk, but as others have said, as long as things dont get out of hand with wheel spinning, beer throwing i would be willing to take the car to Mulsane smile

This a meet for all, not just those with high class cars like my Jaguars and even Ferraris, being lower down the food chain, are not even excludedthumbup The idea is to have a meet not to say anyone is richer than another (or has a bigger outstanding HP balance perhaps). This is about the people who love cars and racing, not just the cars themselves. Obviously the mayor would like tasty cars parked in prominent positions for the locals and to get it in the paper but come along. I don't let only Ferrari owners queue up to buy me a pint!getmecoat

I put the directions in the other thread but it won't harm to do it again. To get to the mairie (town hall) of Mulsanne go down the Mulsanne straight to the Mulsanne roundabout. Now there are two thoughts here:-

If you want to go to the mairie carry straight on towards Tours, go past a small roundabout straight on and then the next left. That takes you to the mairie directly.

If you want to park up at the bar where they are laying on a BBQ (not free!) with chips, sausages, chicken, steak etc. turn left (third exit) at the Mulsanne roundabout and then first right. Straight on until you see the church and the bar is on your left. Only a couple of hundred yds from the mairie anyway.

Edit: this will all depend on the numbers who tell me they are coming. If it is about 10 then we'll just meet up at the bar. If loads of you then the mairie will play ball and block off the parking and side roads for you to park.

Nice one Tony. I will be at the GBW in the morning and then pop over to Mulsanne after lunch.

I know that I asked this last year, but I am still wondering how to get on a parade lap without booking it with the Ferrari Owners Club as part of a much bigger, more expensive package.

If you have any ideas Tony please drop me a line smile

This sounds like an excellent idea for what I hope will be a 'civilized' meet. I too will be at St Saturnin in the morning having bumbled down from Mortagne where we are staying, and would hope to get to Mulsanne either on lunchtime or just after.

I'll be going to the GBW in the morning and will head to Mulsanne in the early afternoon, hopefully getting back from there to the TL site before the idiots have too much loopy juice!
Please count me in Mr LD and thanks for your work in organising this.

This sounds great !

I think we're heading south of the circuit on the Friday, unless I can persuade the group to visit the GBW, but this sounds like a definite port of call at some point during the day thumbup

I really need to know numbers. Those of you who have already replied for example; are you one car our 10? I'm letting this run two weeks and at the end of next week I'll talk again to the town hall.
