Big Block Chevy
Discussion
I have a Big Block 468cid motor that I built 3 years ago. I first built it for an Chevy El Camino but it was wastin away in the back yard and I finally parted with it. Since then I have been searching for a car that would stand out. I had thoughts of a 4th Gen Camaro and then my sights were on Fieros. I came acrossed the Ultima GTR and absolutely fell in love with it.
Now after exhausting myself for no real reason. I need to know if my big block chevy motor will work in a GTR?
Thank you
Jeremy

Its possible, but you would need to make quite a few modifications. Stretch the frame, stretch the rear bodywork, provide new engine and possibly transaxle mounts, etc... The factory, I don't think, will want to help you out with this one. Also, your going to need a stronger transaxle with all that torque of the Bigblock. Mclaren installed a rather large c.i. BBC when they were testing their transaxle with the Ultima.
Not exactly something for a beginner, but it can be done.
Cheers!

p.s.I still believe a smallblock will throw all the torque and horsepower any of our transaxles can handle.

My car has the G50/52 transaxle and the engine is moved 1" forward in the chassis to help offset the extra length with the larger ring gear. It is scarry how close the water pump pulley is to the firewall. I think that its safe to say that without lengthing the chassis a BBC will not fit. I also think that its safe to say that it isn't needed.
