My RS4 has burnt through it's oil in only 4,500 miles.
The service indicator says I'm not due for another service for nearly 12,000 miles. I've heard RS4s can burn oil, but how does this compare to other owners out there?
I've done one track day, and the oil light came on just after I'd finished my day of track sessions.

But on to my main (classed possibly as a "dummy's") question - I'm now in need of some oil, so please can anyone tell me what oil to top up with, and how much oil to put in?

Many thanks,

Darren

A litre in 1,000 miles is typical - as to how much you need top it up with that depends on how much it's burnt I suppose.

Oil you want is Castrol SLX longlife 5w30.

Many thanks for the info thumbup
The dip stick says it's very low, so I guess a couple of litres should suffice.
Being the Bank Holiday, I think I'm stuck with a trip to Halfrauds to buy some smile

Mine burns serious amounts BUT its normal for this engine, a litre every 500 to 1000 miles for me sometimes.Just keep an eye on it.
I use Castrol Edge 5w 30.

These cars are expensive to run/maintain but boy they are woth it...

I've now popped out to get some oil, and topped up with a couple of litres of Castrol 5W30.
Before I received any replies on here, I called Halfrauds who told me to top with 5W40 rolleyes

So thanks again for the replies. You can always rely on PH thumbup

Audi Gmbh say that 1ltr/1000 is the maximum limit. mine has hardly used anything and I have racked up 2k so far.

SR06, don't think you are correct ... the engine consumes oil, that's just the way it works with the oil recirculation.

Read the study guide and you will understand.
