Spa F1 2009 camping

We booked in advance through Grandstand Motorsport and got tickets for Camping Verte. Was fine, but no showers, dire Portaloos and noisy Germans tainted it slightly. I'd driven 10 hours but didn't really sleep on the Thursday night as they just didn't stop playing ear-splitting music. In fairness, we could see the track from the campsite and there was a stall selling frites and biere which was cool. PM me if I can help further...
We stayed here last year. http://www.eaurouge.nl/index_en.htm Not too noisy, a bar, a few showers and not bad all round.
Only thing it is a fairly long walk to the track. About 20-25mins, just make sure you dont forget anything, I left the kangaroo tv on sunday! Still shared a taxi back to get it for next to nothing.

Static caravan's and camping. The guy down the 'road' from us had a 996 Turbo and a two man tent
Good, plentiful beer and a supermarket not far away.
5-10 mins drive to the track, entering through Francorchamps. Bit of a delay on race day but nothing like Silverstone (used to be)
We had Germans next to us, singing the German version of '10 Green Bottles' til 2am on the night we got there but we were so knackered after the drive we slept right through it.
Apart from that, quiet, clean and comparitively cheap.

Seriously, the only way we got any sleep was to get totally pissed and fall into a drunken stooper. Don't worry about sleeping in though, the Dutch will have you up at 6am every morning without fail, usually with 'Come on Barbie, let's go party'...prompty followed by the sound of beer cans being opened.
It is a heck of a long walk if you are going Friday, Saturday and Sunday...so if you've got rollerblades, bikes, scooters, kite surfs or huskies, take them.
Or find some other wandering souls and share a taxi. Best 10 Euro's I ever spent. Which is at odds with general price of the beer and food.
If this all sounds negative, it's not meant to. We had a brilliant time and everyone was a good sport...
It's an ok camp site and the shops are a 30 second drive away...

Another vote for Camping de l'eau rouge, we stayed there last year. The site seemed alright to me, showers and toilets were fine. Don't expect to get huge amounts of sleep but that's all part of the fun!
We were next to a group of dutchies who had a copy of some F1 game for the Playstation/X-Box and played the game constantly at full volume every night we were there into the small hours of the night - the monday morning they chucked everything im the skip - tv, gazebo, tents, the lot!
Beers in the bar were fairly dear I seem to remember so we got a load of our own from the supermarket (these shut at 5/6 so make sure you get back quick once the action is over on the circuit if you need any shopping). Price of the beer doesn't seem to detract some people who were quite literally on the floor by around 9pm!
As has been said, its a bit of a walk to the circuit but not too bad really.
Can't wait for it, counting down the weeks already! :cheers:

Thats what we did in about 2004. Just drove in on a Saturday afternoon after a heavy night out in Dusseldorf. Missed the qualifying, parked at the side of the road, had a wander, found a field, drove in, parked up and slept in the car. There was camping but we didn't have a tent. Of course we then had to endure the German getting his tackle out for a wash right infront of us. But in the other hand there was a Stella Jeep going round selling ice cold beer in a cooling bag! Also found a nice place for some food just near the entrance.Thanks!
If its your first time camping at Spa then you really should experience the official camp sites. The Germans and Dutch as mentioned previously are unbelievable, they pull up with these rigs, generators, very loud very rubbish euro pop, more beer than you have ever seen and just party all weekend long. Not sure if they actually go watch the race or watch it on TV from the comfort of the rig but its well worth experiencing.
Not been for about 10 years (!) but when we did we camped on the local footie pitch. 5 mins walk from La Source entrance, with a bar & very hot showers etc available in the clubhouse. Campsite was pleasantly quiet and highly recommended. Can't find any links to it I'm afraid but I'm sure google will throw something up
