Tyre Removal/Puncture
Discussion
I would give the wheel and tyre to a specialist to repair and not try to unscrew and seperate the rims. You could have problems sealing the rims again and not forgetting that the screws have to be torqued correctly. I believe screws have to be replaced with new ones to be on the safe side. One very BIG job for a small puncture IMO.

Can I take a rear wheel tyre off myself and take it to have a small puncture in the tread repaired ? The wheels are Ultima and I had in mind undoing the screws and splitting the wheel but will I be able to break the beads ?
Frank
No,take the wheel/tyre to the garage to have it repaired Frank
Frank, get the tyre taken off by someone who knows what they are doing.. When I had my tyres put on the roller the bloke used didnt have enough force to push that diameter of tyre of the rim.. eventually he managed but i wasnt that impressed.. wished I had take in to somebody who had alot more experience with large diameter tyres..
I've done it ! At least somebody else has ! They are in Bham and used to supply Ted with tyres . It took 3 fitters to get the tyre off . Very interesting to see the construction of the wheel with the tyre out of the way . I dont think the average tyre place would have a tyre remover with a tall enough arm to pull the 2nd bead off the rim . They have a racing Dept with the correct machine . Thanks for the comments . How often do Ultimas get punctures ? It's the only thing I can't fix myself and is mega- depressing .

I am guessing that maybe you went to BMTR - I used them for many years for single-seater racing car tyres - they attend all of the British Hillclimb Championship events, and many race meetings as well. Frank
