Hi all
i have noticed a noise coming from the diff on my 05 plate slk between 60mph/68mph.
This only happens when the car has been driven for more than 1hr'
The car has 12000 miles on it and has full dealer history and invoices showing all oils changed 08
I have had it into my local main dealer for them to check out and they say its normal
So my points are
1. Is it normal?
2. Are the dealers sandbaging so that i dont get a goodwill claim due to the low mileage,
knowing that they can charge me loads if it gets worse at a later date.
would like to know your opinions
cheers pete

What kind of noise? Is it a constant low pitch drone or high pitch whine? Is it intermittent? If so, when does it occur, on gear changes for example? How loud is it? Are there accompanying feelings of vibration? Are you sure it is from the diff?
The diff oil will not have been changed, even if the service history says "all fluids changed". At 12,000miles nir should it need changing and nor should it have disappeared. Nonetheless my starting point would be to change the diff oil.
