BRT Diff

Mine has given up the ghost, so I start the hunt.

Does anyone have a BRT Diff for a Griff 500 (1999) that is in good working order and that they wish to part with.

Failing this, I'll have to do the usual ring round and hope for the best.

I would go down the recon route before the second hand.. Check out the exchange units or the price on refurbing your own,, problem with second hand is if it bought & fitted & no good youve wasted time & money with out no come back.Phone calls are the cheaper option.. Hope this helps

Check the ratio if looking for replcement. There are at least two types.

Has the diff actually failed i.e broken gear wheels etc. or are you suffering excessive clonking when taking up the drive?

The reason I ask is that there have been alot of diffs condemed by main dealers & indies alike when a simple adjustment was required

How do i fine out what the ratio's are/should be, and how do I check on the diff itself?

There will be a tag on the diff,and it should (will)say 3.45.

Best not to trust the tag. I have two Difs with the same tag but differnt ratios. Best to count the turns input to output.

I take it the correct ratio for mine is 3.45

I can now check the diff's and take it from there.
