After ahem 'borrowing' the battery off my dads VW with a bit of a bodge to get it to fit a couple of weeks back hes decided he wants it back which leaves me without a battery for the old girl.

Im not keen on putting a Vauxhall one on as it never seemed to start very well with it and from whats been said they dont sound powerfull enough.

Any suggestions on where to get one from and or if anyone knows a make and model of battery that fits and I can search it out?

Do Monkfish stock them?

Thanks for any help.

IIRC, jimb0 got one from Halfrauds. Might be in the FAQ?

Bosch batteries are good & also cheap at Costco if you know someone who has a membership. I paid about 55 quid for a battery where the nearest equivalent Exide etc was over 80 quid. 4 yr warranty as well I think.

Undo 3 bolts holding the battery tray and take the tray and clamp wedge to your favourite motor factor, remembering where the pos. & neg. posts go.
(They can be manufactured at either end of a battery)

Again - do not purchase from Halfrauds, go straight to VX and get the right one. Its £50 something and very good complete with a 3 yr wareentee. No issues what so ever with mine!

Well went to Makro today and the price had gone up from £46.99 + vat to £69.99 + Vat due to it being wednesday and thats when the prices change, wasnt happy!

Anyways ended up getting one from Vauxhall main dealer for £36.41 + vat which was quite happy about, its probably the wrong battery knowing them and designed to run a 1.0l corsa but we will see!

If its more than 55AH then it should be ok, anything less then it might struggle... With my experience in batteries (which i deal with in my job), anything bigger in AH will last longer and not give you any problems so dont worry mate!!!

P.S. Hows those plaques, you part of the unique club yet??? rotate
