Nice one, thanks. Not a patch on Mark Evans' "A massive TV career is born" but usually good viewing nonetheless.

why do they never price up the labour time its costs?

just car + parts = selling price

it should be car + parts+ labour = selling price

Am sure that if they priced in the labour they would always make a loss.

I think the idea of the show is to avoid a labour cost & show "what you could achieve at home" if you gave up your weekends to fettle with old nails wink

Sort of property ladder for cars!

Quite pleased with that episode. There was nothing done that couldn't be achieved in a home garage with basic tools, I've certainly tackled much more taxing jobs.

A good episode, realy liked the way Ed explains in more detail about the parts and what they do. Quite helpful for a novice like me.

I disagree.

Mark Evans really annoys me for some reason, and, whist I know Brewer went to the same school of 'annoying', I like the way he and Ed do the show.

Quite enjoyed last nights, shame they didnt show the suspension geometry and wheel alignment phase, boring to most but an essential part of setting a car up for track use.

I'd not read the tv guide beforehand so didn't know what they had in store for the car, so when Brewer went to see the Cat-D car I thought "that'd be a candidate for a track day car" so was surprised when they bought a cleaner car and stripped it out.

Not convinced by the orange wheels either.

I really enjoyed the episode last night. Looked a minter of a car. The suspension stuff was made quite simplistic, but I expect they could make hours of dull TV about all of the Suspension setting up etc.

Red wheels where spot on, really suited trackday apperance. With the standard wheels available when on road. Doesn't matter if the red paint gets chipped when putting track rubber on.

They did refer to them as Porsche Racing Orange to be fair.

Not sure I liked the idea of ripping the crap out of a really tidy car. Perhaps there was something else wrong with it that they didn't reveal, but it seemed a shame.

I agree, looked a lovely clean example and maybe there was a problem with it that they didnt share. Really suprised they did no engine work at all when it was later "thrashed" around the track....the Turbo!!!!!
Also, I noticed the piece when Brewer gave Ed the suspension with a cup of tea on top of the boxes and Ed took a sip and then put it down....the cup was clearly empty and it was a little rehearsed sketch!!!

They must have serviced it and as they were so over budget anyway, just decided to omit the service cost!

Mike Brewer used to annoy me in previous series. He was ok in the one last night though, but there are still certain aspects of the whole thing that annoy me.

Like:

1. Going on about the cigar burn in the seat when they were going to put the racing seats in.
2. Saying the turbo sticker on the front wing would be the first thing to come off (or words to that effect) then leave it on!
3. No piece on fixing the defective exhaust that was noted on the test drive.
4. I'm sure said he'd spotted the grey/silver car on a "free ad site" but it was clearly ebay he was looking at when you seen his screen. Ebay is not free!
5. Ed China's hair. What's that all about!

Agreed. I think they bought it, and somehow it turned out to be a proper lemon and had to think of what to do with it. That was a lot of car for £2800 otherwise.....and he looked at it in a snow drift!
