Been reading several threads on here re 348's & 456's over last few weeks which have inspired me to start looking at the classifieds.
I personally think (and it's my own opinion before I get slated) that the wheels on both the 348 & 456 don't do the cars much justice, unlike say the 355 where those wheels are just stunning and really suit the cars lines.

Would really appreciate any owners & enthusiasts posting pics of either car with non-standard wheels.

burriana has a 348 with 360 wheels, have a look at some of his threads. I think they look best with 355 wheels. also a 456 with 550 wheels looks good.

I certainly do ...

... personally though, even with 5mm skimmed off the hubs I think the offset is still about 10mm too wide.

I agree that the original 348 rims look very heavy and dated. These are the best looking, but trying to find even replicas is impossible. Original GTC wheels are about £5k a set!

scratchchin you know, 355 wheels might not be a bad idea ... SYYYYYYYY!

(Sy - Angelis has 355s on his).

Well if you have a car in mind, and a set of wheels in mind, I can always knock you up a bit of photoshop work and you can see a picture of your car with whatever choice of wheels you're thinking about!

Thanks for the replies chaps.
Have scoured the clubscuderia website and found plenty of pics - always loved the look of the 355, but budget is around £25k and from what I have read, good 355's are north of £35k. A 456 would be more practical for family trips (have a 2.5yr old) but the shape just doesn't really do it for me. Been trying to decide for a long time now, just never reached a firm decision.

Judas - very nice looking car you have - that 355 front bumper does look very good and the panel fit on yours looks really good. Saw another 348 with 355 bumpers/side trims which didn't look as though it fitted very well at all.

Hopefully have a guy coming to view/buy mine later this week, so can then start looking properly.

My only hesitation in going for a 348 has always been the drop in performance / reliabilty (had a 996 Turbo for last 4.5 years), but really looking for something that is an event to drive.
Just need to get out and see/drive some, but they seem scattered all over the country, EXCEPT where I am !! (Nuneaton/Coventry)

I think that looks really good actually. i like the fact you left the rear standard as I hate the 348/355 rear conversion, looks like a kit or something.

Thanks smile Though I can't take credit - I bought it like that.

I did contemplate doing the rear grill, but was never wholly convinced it would look good enough, and the original grill looks great too.

Maybe if there was a really good 355 Challenge type grill I'd reconsider.

I think its never going to look good because the 348 doesnt have the curled spoiler at back. The 348 rear is fantastic & enhanced by that 355 rear bumper, enjoy it as is would be my thought.

The 348 at the PH South Coast meet in Feb this year looked awesome

Speedline Corse - similar/the same as the wheels the Challenge cars had?

Burriana here smile

From memory as I'm not near the car they are 285/35 on the back and 225/45 on the front. Can let you know when I'm back from Spain on Sunday eve.

Bit gimmicky, but wheels really make a difference tp the car (although would IMO look better in silver)

Performance wise your 996 Turbo will murder a 348...

Edit: for the money the 996 is worth couldn't you pick up a 360? there was one in the classifieds for £35k...

I have mine advertised at £26.5k, which is a hell of a car for the money, but what I genuinely think it will sell at. Painful considering I paid around £70k for it 4.5yrs ago, and having lost the £25k deposit + Finance costs of £450/pcm + £12-15k I have spent on it ...... OUCH !!

Hence why I am looking for something that will not depreciate too much, is priced around £25k and will still give me a smile. Otherwise I might as well keep the 911 and run it for a few more years (still think it's fantastic after 4 1/2 years) and at least I KNOW that its been looked after fastidiously and had everything done.

But there's that itch thing that won't go away.

I am just starting a new Recruitment & Projects business too www.e-ppl.co.uk) so not got the cash to throw at a 355/360, although that's what I would go for if I wasn't carefully managing my budget - hence the 348/456.

Found loads of 348 pics (do like the white wheels), but not much luck in finding 456's with different wheels .... anyone?!

David Yu (Godzilla on here I think?) has a 456 with Novitec wheels. I'm not a huge fan of the 456, but with those wheels it looks cloud9

There's some photos here...
