V12 Vantage or LP560?
Discussion
I've had a deposit on a V12 Vantage since septemeber last year, dealer wants full order and spec in 2 months. Yet to see the car, final colour and interior options still flaky and generally becoming a little unsure about the whole thing. I've got a v8 vantage at the moment so staring to lean towards the thinking that the V12 is going to have to be very special indeed as its the same shape as my current car, interior etc. So when i saw a black LP560 over the weekend I realised that by Novemeber when the V12 is due an LP560 is a very viable alternative. Love the way it looks and sounds and thinking maybe i need to try something new. Whats the general feeling on the LP? I've read the reviews etc but would really like to hear comments from owners or anyone who's test driven one. Thanks chaps.

What do you want your car to 'do'?
Does it jsut need to be comfortable, go reasonably rapidly and be pretty?
Or do you want a hooners car?
IMHO - The LP560 is way more special - around here Astons are 2-a-penny. As gorgeous as they are, they're only marginally more 'special' than a porker which wouldn't make anyone raise their eyes form their coffee... The LP has stunning looks with the slight Reventon-isation of the styling and imho is the most cohesive design of the Gallardo.
They're also a lot faster than the V8 Aston - I couldn't comment about the V12.

Thanks for the replies fellas. It will be purely a weekend toy so comfort on long journeys and luggage space is not at the top of my list. What is important is the drive and the buzz you get when you open the garage door, I'm think the LP560 may well have the edge there! Lambo Reading have a black car with 500 miles on the clock but its the wrong side of 140K. I know there's not many around but whats the feeling on where a low mileage car will be towards the end of the year?

that's not an edge, that's a chasmIf your conservative, practical head side wins then you'll go Aston.
If your bonkers, life is too short, heart side wins then you'll go LP560.
It is that simple when you get down to it.. although I am struggling with the same dilemma at the moment and cannot work out which side of me is going to win!

Golf clubs?!! Really not my thing Mr Fish! Having an Aston at present, as nice as it is, Im just leaning towards something different. Although I'm sure the V12 will be somewhat more of an animal than the V8 its still essentialy the same car with a bigger engine squeezed in. Thanks chaps, I think i'm going to take a serious look at the 560. Not too many around though, really not keen on a white one. Black or grey is what I think i'd go for. Any advice on what to look out for / avoid. Egear is the way i'd go but other than that?

V12 Vantage is 135K before options. With the lightweight carbon seats, nice paint and the audio upgrade its going to be a 140k car
Hi Mate,And there you have it - having done a provisional spec. yesterday my V12V is going to come out at near on £140k. You suddenly realise that, by the time the car arrives (Sept) you'll be able to get a lightly used Scud etc., for that. It's making me think twice. Will it 'just' be a faster V8 Vantage. I'll drive the car at Donnington in July before finally deciding whether I keep the car I think. Certainly having done both I know that when I blipped the garage door that first sight of a flash of Red made my heart beat faster than my Aston did and, will a 'faster V8' compete with Italian flare in the heart rate stakes - which is what a weekend car is all about isn't it?

Hey Pugsey, exactly my thinking at the moment regarding the V12 Vantage. I've got till the end of June to confirm my spec which is before the Donington drive. I've decided not to spec a car until i've driven it, if I'm knocked down the list so be it. But then as you said, at 140K used Scuderia's and LP560's are well within reach. I know what I need to do and thats try the Italians once I've driven the V12. I have to admit though, I am now having serious doubts about the V12 and that damn Lambo's pulling at my heart strings

Will, I see you have a white Audi. To make your choice even easier:
