Every time I catch up with one of these in traffic, I cringe. (Emphasised, so as not to hurt the sensibilities of the bikefreaks herein).

How can anybody put their youngsters at risk like this..? A careless nudge by a bus or lorry and it's curtains.

Followed one yesterday that appeared to be hitched up incorrectly. The youngster was leaning one way then the other and looked ripe for a fall.

They always seem to be in hippy areas and out to prove a bloody point.

Burn them...

Edited 'cos I meant curtains, not cutains

How is this any different to a bus or lorry hitting a normal cyclist? If the cyclist is aware enough of their own bike and any attached trailer, then they're perfectly safe. You could easily argue the same for someone towing a caravan - if it's not being towed properly then it's potentially curtains....

Admittedly if it's hitched up incorrectly, that's another matter.

At least it gives you a chance to annihilate the smug, bratty kid without taking out the fit MILF in the process.

I think the trailers are good

Personally, mine are too small to use them, so I use one of these...

If I come off, then squirt is sort of protected by me

The difference is the cyclist takes the risk.

The child has the risk imposed on it.

We don't have many cyclists round here, only the militant idiots, because of the hills. Despite this, I've seen three knocked off in recent years, all through their own incompetence. Cycling in traffic is not a safe passtime.

I guess prams crossing the road should be stopped also as that can be risky and the risk is imposed on the child!

Actually, whilst we're on the topic of cyclists, I meant to start a topic last week.

Bloody Cyclists!!!! mad

I did some driving straight through the centre of London last week, and the cyclists are fooking idiots!

I've often sighed when I see these threads, as I myself am a cyclist (having cycled to work for the last 11 years) and think to myself the car drivers are probably idiots.

How wrong.

I encountered numerous cyclists skipping red lights, cutting up cars at will etc etc, when there are so many lanes to contend with, a cyclist coming from nowhere is a royal pain.

Very dangerous indeed. London motorists have my sympathies!

A pram crossing is usually shorter than a bike ride and ought to be conducted where suitably safe.

Next stupid question..?

You could argue the same for just about everything that is child related - cycle, pushchair, car, walking, carrying, eating - where do you draw the line?

mybrainhurts said:

Exactly - A lot of occasional cyclists are plenty safe as they take fewer risks - London courier bikers are another matter.

Driving in traffic isn't always safe - neither is motorbiking always safe.

Perhaps we should all cabin up and not venture out....

I assume you read the post to which you are replying....

Why do you think it in order to expose your children to unnecessary risks..?

Are you Michael Jackson..?

In traffic..?

I'll take you for a ride round my hippy districts. You might change your mind when you see how the buses are driven.
