Hi,

Posted this in the French Bred part but I thought it might get abit more exposure here.

I have recently bought a Renault Clio 1.5 DCI Dynamique 65 on a 51 plate and am looking at getting the Cam Belt changed as I think its due a new one.

I have got a couple of quotes for the work I need doing which is basically changing the Cam Belt Kit and a new waterpump and they are coming in as follows:

Local Main Dealer - £450 approx (inc VAT)
Trusted Local Mechanic #1 - £312.80 (inc VAT)
Trausted Local Mechaninc #2 - £238.63 (inc VAT)

Do these prices seem fair or am I being taken for a complete and utter ride??

Otto

Local guys sound about right - 250-300 depending how hard access is on your car / how often they've done this car before etc.

Go with the local trusted mechanics any day over the dealer.

Its about 2 and a half hours plus a cam belt kit! (recomended) but for a waterpump the time is 4.3 hours which would be the cambelt time included so the independent seems fair
