A friend of mine has discovered that he needs a new circulation pump for the intercooler on his CL55 AMG. can any one advise what the cost may be to replace it, and where he could go to have it done that wont cost the earth in the notts area. Also is it ok to drive the car with this issue. its only under hard acceleration that the power loss occurs....

thanks in advance...

It is a very common poblem on 55 kompressor engines. i had mine replaced on my e55 with a johnson cm30 pump which is the one all the tuned cars run, plus it is half the price of the genuine mercedes pump.
The reason you loose power is the e.c.u turns the supercharger off for safety measures, so you will not cause any damage whilst driving.
