Hi there.
I am considering buying an E36 Convertible (yippee) but the missus wants a caravan (after a freezing weekend at Rushden Cavalcade in a trailer tent).
My question is what is the safe towing load for an E36 Conv?. Also, what is the kerbweight of such a beast - possibly a 323i or a 328i?
Thanks in anticipation.

dont do it ......
i was duped by the bread knife a few years ago , i wanted a X5 4.8is , and was about to get one ..... lovely silver example with all the options, then she and her mum visited a local caravan dealer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In no time i was getitng a 4.6is , and they ha dfound a twin wheel van for the cash we had saved........
dont get me wrong , the van was gr8 for getitng away with the kids and we had lots of great breaks but , i really wanted the 4.8 , and was reduced by feminimity into alesser 4.6is , with more miles to the caost of a masisve twin wheeler van !!!!
needless to say we had it 2 years , and we have a static , no towing !!!!
good luck , youll need it , just think of emptying the chem loo , filling he water hog and emptying the waste master ... not to mention pitching in the dark , wet evenings while the family sit in the car waiting for 'dad' to set things up !!!!

It can't be as bad as our current situation of haveing to erect and peg a trailer tent, then move everything out of the car and into the tent!!i was duped by the bread knife a few years ago , i wanted a X5 4.8is , and was about to get one ..... lovely silver example with all the options, then she and her mum visited a local caravan dealer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you want to experience caravan living for a trial period wait until they forecast a rainy week and then move your whole family into your smallest bedroom and turn the heating off.
Ensure you all sleep, cook, live solely in that room and only bath/wash etc at the bottom of the garden.
For extra reality ask a family of chavs with four dogs to move into a room no more than 10 feet away and keep you awake all night with music and dogs barking.
