Has anybody heard anything about the LMK 917 www.kraftwerkz.net/? Porsche 917 replica including replica chassis albeit in steel rather than aluminium unless an expensive option. Should be able to SVA it ( see thread www.cknet.org.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=13&whichpage=1. Could be an interesting if more race-orientated (& would need lots of work to make it 'streetable'!) Ultima alternative. Chassis could be better than Ultima if really is 917-pattern and appearance is in totally a different class!
Any thoughts?

I like it. I always have wanted something of a 917 elk, but never seen a kit as good as that. Its a shame you can't have cheap chevy power (or maybe you can?) as it would make it more tempting.
I wonder what Andy will think of it (andycanam). I couldn't find a total for all the bits though as that would give me a better understanding of where it sits in the market. Lovely looking motor though.
Oh and btw, welcome to PH and the Ultima forum

If I had the money I would most definately buy one of these Though I still want to design and build my own flat-6 based sports car...
Who wants a flat 6? They are planning on offering a a flat 12 (based on 2 porsche boxers).. but for ALOT of cash. Trying to work out what a decent reasonable engine option would be. The Le Mans cars were flat 12s, twin turbocharged to approx 1100-1200bhp.. and weighed 720kg..!!!
I was in contact with them and I'm awaiting for a DVD brochure. The chassis is perfect and they do a first class job. But don't expect too much from a exact copy of a 70's racer. A simply 4mm GRP layer goes over the 48Kgs aluminum frame. There are no door internals and the Ultima cockpit is an "S" type compared with "this" but ....friends...it is a true racer for the track. Price is very competitive (in my own opinion) 20K GBP without engine and box. The problem will be the transport but it will be probably my next project.
Cheers
