Championship Points Conundrum!

HELP! As a rookie I would appreciate a definitive guide to Championship points - from whoever is the gatekeeper! In my case after completing both Cadwell and Rockingham in Gp B, I am shown as 3rd with 41 points on TVR Monster, but 7th with (from memory 24 points on the official website)! All I know is that I was 3rd in Race 2 at Cadwell and 7th then 6th in races 1 and 2 respectively at Rockingham. I thought that Geoff Parkinson had said at Cadwell that race 2 would count for double points - presumably on the basis that we had all started race 1 in good faith, if in a subsequent little disarray!

You need to talk to John read directly as the organiser who will give you the definitive regards points.N.

Your points on Monster are correct. As I said in the original thread, graham isn't registered for points, so you were 7th and 5th at Rock.
As for Race 1 cadwell, there is no points AFAICS and no word from JR.
With no classification sheet and as we didn't complete 3 laps min or 3/4 race distance, there is no chance of any points for Race 1.
It's up to MSA and JR but I can't see it happening.
Sorry for the error, Monsters an unofficial site and I try to keep up with who's in out regs etc etc

Hi guys, sorry Richard I had somehow missed off your Cadwell result... In the middle of my university finals so everything else gets a little less attention at the moment! Sent to Andy so it will be updated asap.
Kevan, I only usually add people to the spreadsheet once they get points out of habbit. I've added you to the list now and sent Andy a photo to stick on your driver profile on the site, again that should be up asap.
The only issue I have between my points table and TVRMonster's is Tony Abrams'/Gary Lancashire's points... Could you check yours Andy and confirm that they're right? My understanding is that Ben was racing in the first race and scored 15, then Richard raced in the second but did not finish. So Ben should have points not Richard and Tony should be on 23 not 25 and Gary should be on 21 not 22 as far as I can tell.
I would usually have done this at the race and confirmed with everyone but I had to shoot off before the second race (I hear I missed a good one!).

Nick - whereas I appreciate that your mind is on your finals and 'good luck' by the way, I am beginning not to be able to "see the wood for the trees" on this issue. If I am the "Richard" you refer to, I did finish race 2 at Rock - I was 6th in Gp B (17th overall) according to the race 2 printout.
If you are effectively the stats 'gatekeeper', then surely all published Championship scores should be listed on the official Championship "Dunlop TVR Challenge" website for any other relevant TVR linked website to copy.
I too cannot find reference to the points system on any website, though I think it cascades down from 21, 19 ,17, after which I have no idea.
May I suggest to Owen (Digitalstroke) that it would be useful to see this as a sub on "Race News"?

1st - 21
2nd - 19
3rd - 17
4th - 15
5th - 13
6th - 12
then reducing down by 1 point down to 1 point for 17th
Fastest lap = 1 point extra.
There is a reduction in points if less than 3 starters and no fastest lap point if only 1 starter.
Points are one of those things that looks so simple but would try the patients of a saint to work out when something odd happens.. i did it for a couple of years, but it would take a lot of beer and a lifetimes supply of top class hookers to get me to do it again !!!!
I thought not me not running for points this year would make things simpler as i cant do the whole season, leaving the guys committing to every round to fight it out for the pot but apparently even thats caused a certain amount of grief !!!! so I now will get points for the races I do.

Sorry I didn't explain myself very well in that post... It was late. I was referring to both yourself and Richard Wright from Team Wright Racing. With your points, I had just missed off your Cadwell score completely somehow so you were just down by that amount. I added the points and have sent the updated list to Andy to put on the website. The other problem I was talking about was Richard and Ben Wright. They share their car and as far as I'm aware, both score points. At Rock, Ben raced in the first race and scored points (but was down as Richard on TVRMonster), and Richard raced in the second race but did not finish so Ben Wright should have points and not Richard. Phew this is confusing!
I'm sorry this has been a little confusing of late. I have a big, comprehensive points table which I update and send to Andy (digitalstroke) to put on the website. He has only been putting up what you see on the site however so I think more info needs to go up. He is supposed to be giving me access rights asap so I can update this myself, at which point I will try and make things a little more clear.

no worries chap... Points are an odd thing in that they mean absolutely nothing and everything at the same time. Just dont ever try and work out the cost of a point !!!Richard
the points systems should be clear, and easily obtainable, as everyone wants to know where they stand, but also they need someone to sit down and work them out, and handle the oddities and thats not always clear cut, occasionly that takes a little time, and there also seems to be a few teathing problems with Nick getting them on the championship website but I've no doubt it'll all be sorted soon.

Just to add to the confusion, according to the official results ( click here) Richard Wright ran in both races, 4th in the first and DNF in the second).Sorry
