Just pressed the button to open the drivers door from the outside and the window came down as usual. The door then released (after a longer time than normal), and the window then went down again even further automatically... I closed the door, armed the alarm and the window now only goes 2/3rds of the way up... When sitting inside I can wind the windows up and down no problems. Is there any way of reseting this, or does anyone have any ideas how I can fix it? Is it a replacement encoder jobby? Could be fun with all this rain we are having...

Yep I know what the problem is as mine just came back from its first 6k service and I had the same problem a month before putting it in. The programme needs to be remapped so just take it to a dealer and they can do for you. Mine was under the 2 years Tuscan S warranty as its a 'O3' model.

Alf, thanks for the info. Mine is a late 2002 Tuscan S. I will pop over to the dealers first thing this am to see if they can re-programme it...

Hi,
Only had my Tuscan a while but you could also try some silicone lubricant as I was having a similar problem.
If it stops completely, try the fuse box though you'll need to practise yoga for about six mmonthe beforehand to get yourself under the steering wheel.

This was a problem on earlier models as well, with water ingress into the window encoder, on most they were encapuslated in silicon and relocated to a dryer area.

I had exacly the same problem so arranged to have it 'fixed' when I took mine in for some other bitz 'n bobz to be sorted. I was told I needed and new encoder but it was only £19. Fair enough, but he didn't tell me about the £22 to fit it and then the VAT on top - local stealer not local dealer!!!

Thanks everyone for the advice. Dropped it over to those nice chaps at Racing Green who plugged in a new encoder under warranty while I waited. Excellent. Now I can close the windows from the outside when it is hammering down with rain.
