F1 Prize money

Hi all,
A thing that has always puzzled me and I wondered if any of you guys know the answer, is there prize money associated with the results in F1 for the drivers? They get a big salary obviously but do they just get the trophy and points or what?..............

Certainly a whole heap of prize money, added TV revenue etc.. for the teams depending on the number of points they get. Im sure the drivers get an extra wedge as well. Would be interesting to know if there is a 1st, 2nd, 3rd prize money.

The formal prize money goes to the teams, in descending order of final positions in the WCC.
Teams have individual deals with their drivers. Some pay per point, some give bonuses for wins. McLaren have paid some drivers $1M per win.

It's all confidential according to the concord agreement (whether signed or not) but the breakfast TV sports guy said that each manufacturer point is worth about $2m.

Seem to recall hearing somewhere that DC negotiated a deal (not sure if it was salary or bonus, I assume the latter) that paid him £100,000 per world championship point scored...
