There seems to be much interest in badges that are difficult to get, and this may be a suitable solution for some that may want to experiment, as I have.

Due to our distance from Europe, and USA we do have a limited amount of resources in South Africa, and for that reason, I have often had to make do. I needed a badge for a project, and decided to attempt at making one. With some trial and error, I managed to do so successfully.

If you have a sticker that is already cut out to the shape, it becomes a piece of cake, if you can find a suitable clear epoxy. I used some left over clear 2 pack epoxy used as primer for my epoxy garage floors, but I know that there are other suitable fluid epoxy resins.

The method is to place the sticker or printed paper cut to the correct shape on a flat level surface, without any curling of the edges, mix the 2 pack epoxy, and slowly pour onto the sticker, The idea is for the liquid to run to the edge of the sticker or paper and if the correct amount is appled, it stops on the edge without spilling. The final effect is that beautiful rounded off edge, without any further cutting or polishing. Once it sets, its ready to apply. If you apply too much epoxy, it may run over the edge and create a mess. Trial and error will give you much pleasure and the occasional recognition from a mate is worth the effort.
