Blimey! Just rectified the same problem last weekend on mine. I think its been mentioned on here before but heregoes;
1. Order 2 packs of retaining clips (a pair for each seat #92140918).
2. Sit in the back of your car with the front seats fully forward and tilted forward.
3. Pull the seat backs off from the bottom edge, the retaining clips will break!
4. Clean/remove any rust that you can find, then use silicon grease and oil to lubricate absolutely everything you can see that can rub together.
5. Clip the retainers into place on the seatback.
6. Put the seatback back into place and push into position at the bottom until it clicks.
7. Fully exercise the seats to work the grease and oil into place.
Then enjoy squeak free motoring

Many thanks
Ok mate, I see from your profile that your car is a VXR so your seats are slightly different to mine! They may be similar at the back though. Sit in the back of your car and have a look at the back of your seat, has it got the faux leather elasticated map pocket thingy? Mine has, and the (plastic) panel that this is attached to is the one that I removed by pulling it firmly from the bottom edge. Then follow the instructions that I posted earlier, it really was dead easy mate....hope that helps!
.
.Oh dear, the back of them there VXR seats dont really look much like the seats in the CV8 I'm afraid. However there is a good chance that they detach in a similar fashion. Its your call fella, but if the seatback looks detacheable then it probably is. Like I said its up to you!
Is there anyone on hear who has done this mod on a VXR?

Yeah, step 6 on link above shows the rear seat panel which I had to remove to grease up the seat mechanisms. Looks like the GTOs have the same seats as the CV8s.
