Loved the first series and reckon it's the best thing Duchovny's done since the X-files. I hope they can continue on the same theme for this new series

I think it typifies the character, coupled with never cleaning the car, the Porsche has been covered in a layer of muck since the first episode. I think the Porsche for the character spells ironic freedom. But clearly its a handy plot device...
When he bought the brand new Porsche and subsequently was car jacked, (I think) his daughter remarked that the original dirty/damaged Porsche suited him better.
