Hi guys, can you please settle a discussion for me please.
To set the sceen, I am currently looking to sell my MG, will realise about £2500 ish, I commented to my wife last night that I may spend about £1000 from the sale on a runabout, and the rest on an Omega Seamaster, my thoughts being that the funds from my car could be distributed as I saw fit!!
My wifes argument is she has no problems with me spending all the "car money" on another car, but any left over should go towards a new sofa and not a watch!!
Thoughts pls guys!

Under any other circumstances, and in any sane person's eyes, you are undoubtedly right. However, I noticed the word 'wife' in your post, so you are almost certainly wrong..........

Which do you want? Whichever it is, buy it.

As a recent purchaser of an Omega Seamaster - only one way I could vote.

Do it!

I would add - if you want an Omega, why the Seamaster? Every bugger's got one - why spend that sort of cash just to get the same as so many other people? Just a thought.

She is a woman. No matter what option you choose it will be wrong.

Buy the watch and tell her you didn't get as much for the car as hoped

It depends on whether or not you actually NEED a new sofa, or the other half has just become bored of the current one.

Sorry. Just my reasoning when I buy watches - and other things. The Seamaster is a beautiful timepiece though, without a doubt. thumbup

Always fancied one!
I have got a vintage Breitling, and a vintage Baume and Mercier, not worth huge amounts of money, but irreplacable, looking for a nice everyday watch.

Spend all the money on a new car; chances are it will have an inbuilt clock.

I would have voted for this http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1023896.htm since it satisfies the terms as given to you without wasting money on a sofa you don't want.

However, since this is going to get the same response as the Omega anyway, I voted for the watch.

Who bought the car you are selling? You on your own, or was it with joint money.

Do you need a new sofa? Do you need a new watch?

Say sorry dear when I said about spending the money from the sale of my car I was making a statement and not asking your fking advice.

Then slap her arse and give her a knowing wink.

Good point, we have always had joint money, never really bothered with separate accounts etc.
My good lady passed her test about 6 mths ago, I had said when she did she could have my Golf VR6 which she loves, so I went out and bought the BGT.

In my wifes eyes we do need a new sofa, had this one about 10 yrs, I am not the smallest of blokes, 6ft/15stone, so its showing signs of wear and tear!!!
As for do I need a new watch,.........you sound like my wife!
